So, it appears that John Blake as Nightwing/Robin customs are in vogue in these days following the release of 'The Dark Knight Rises', and leading up to its release on home video formats. I rushed out a custom of what John Blake might look like had he taken on the mantle of Robin, Nightwing, or in my conceptualization, a combination of the two personas, and there have been many, many really great customs that have well and truly knocked mine out of the water. This is my new take - the base body is a Prototype Suit Bruce Wayne with the straps, belts and bandoliers removed with the Nightwing insignia sculpted, the head is from a Movie Masters John Blake and the mask is made from soft card and twisty wire. The new features with this one are the muted navy blue colour scheme for the body, with a muted red for highlights. I wanted to combine the red colour scheme of the Robins and Renegade/New 52 Nightwing with Nightwing's traditionally blue colour scheme, and realised that this was also the direction the Batman and Robin costume went in (it's more obvious in some of the action figures, which ostensibly look less silly). I also added a set of removable 'wings' cut out from plastic blister packaging; they can be fitted into a slot on his back. The escrima sticks are modified from those that came with the pre-DCSH Nightwing. The face has also been given a bit of a repaint. Thanks for looking, and hope this one is better than my previous efforts at the figure! Please wait... |
