A long time ago, McFarlane released three Predator figures from the Alien Vs Predator film. These figures were very inaccurate and fragile, but have become very sought after by fans. I decided to take the liberty of updating my McFarlane Scar Predator. I repainted his armor by giving it a black wash, then dry brushing it in gunmetal, followed by a dry brush with silver. I painted the eye lenses on the bio a light grey like in the film. I removed the 'chopper' blades, and shortened the length of the gun arm to be more movie accurate. I also etch the 'T' symbol on his bio with a linoleum cutting knife to give it that 3d feel and texture. I left the skin and netting alone, as McFarlane did a good job with them, as opposed to NECA. Not a lot of mods, but necessary to make the figure much more accurate and have a better overall appearance. The pose is taken after he notices the human sitting still on the ground after falling down the ice tunnel. He pops his claws and slashes the guy to his death with one swipe.

Thanks man. I just did the armor, not very much work. I didn't touch the skin. McFarlane did a good job on the skin and netting.

did you go silver first then gunmetal? Sorry to be a nuisance but I've had the same frustration with my McFarlane predators and you've done a simple but really effective improvement on them.

I did gunmetal first, but thats because I did a dark wash over the silver base color. If you paint the armor solid black, the base color is black, so then you have to drybrush the silver back over top of the black, then dry brush gunmetal, then silver again. Just make sure you don't use too much and overpower the pores of the armor with silver, or it won't look like you did anything.

thanks for your patience with my questions and once again..superb work. Simple and effective. Oh one more question..for the shortened blades on the Celtic Predator..did you use the same McFarlane ones or NECA blades?

I used NECA blades, but the mcfarlane ones will also work.

how much did you dilute the paints to get that effect?

The black was pretty thin, I think I did like two coats. But in all honesty, if you painted the armor solid black and then dry brused silver, gunmetal, silver, you'll get the same effect.
