She's a 2012 April O'Neil body with a new head sculpted from scratch. Of all the new TMNT figures April seemed to be the least "on model" with the show. I tried my best to sculpt the most accurate likeness I could using screen grabs from the show. The head is made from beige Sculpey III (the opaque beige color makes it a little easier to see fine details while you're sculpting, as opposed to the semi-translucent Super Sculpey). I actually stuck the head on the body while it was still soft to ensure a snug fit on the ball-joint, then I carefully (very carefully) removed it from the body and baked it to the proper hardness. Her ponytail is a separate piece since I was worried such a flimsy part would break off too easily. It's pegged in to a little hole in the back of her head and is totally durable. I then painted the new head with Winsor & Newton Galeria brand acrylics and also added the white stripes around her shirt and socks and... voila.
You did a really good job on sculpting the new head. But, after looking at images from the show, I can't help but think it's way too big. The new head is great, but it's bigger than her entire torso.
Your new head is a HUGE improvement on Playmates' (they should take notes); well done! Does this April remind anybody else of a young Lindsay Lohan (gotta be the freckles)?
Very nice! Good job on the sculpt. I hated the redesign of Splinter and April and the figures were even worse. They made April look like a tween tomboy and Splinter a misshapen badger. Your custom definitely goes a long way toward salvaging April for me. I'm still not sold on the design but you did a great job on the figure.
