Like some intergalactic Pharaoh unleashed from its mummy trance, this Zombie Surfer has awaken its innermost primitive radster, and totally ripping some tsunami space waves out there in the zombie universe! The Spider-man figure was a great base to use as it had some narley surfing poses. Sculpted the skull face with apoxie and added a boned right hand as well. Other wounds were also created with apoxie. The 8.5 inch board was cut from a sheet of hard clear acrylic. It was placed in boiling water to soften its physical form and allow the shape to be cut out. Once dried, used some sculpt on the sides then sanded it down smooth. Thin strips of masking tape were laid over top and the board sprayed silver. Once dried, removed the strips to show the color contrast. The board has a groove on the underside, enabling it to balance over an edge or a flat surface, and appear like it's hovering. Illustrated a portion of the Orion Nebula on the oval board, using brush apps with water and acrylic. For the figure, paint apps began with a full spray of matte black, then a semi-wash of acrylic white. Added another thin layer of silver with chrome color detailing. This Surfer was designed for action-poses and balances well without the help of magnets or foot pegs to secure it. The position in which the figure's legs were originally designed allowed for some epic freestyling and hovering poses! Thanks for checking it out! ![]() |
