This was a basic Skylanders Flashwing stripped of all of its paint to appear clear. This was a pain in the rear. The paint they use on these little buggers is incredibly strong and it was no picnic tearing this one apart either. I went through 3 brushes and nearly a whole bottle of thinner on this thing. It was finished off with a clear mix of custom purple paint to highlight the details in the mold.
So did you use regular paint thinner on this bad boy? And did you dip the figure in or did you use the paint brushes with the thinner? I'm trying to do this same process on a clear figure as well. Oh and also I know that this figure's clear plastic is purple, when you stripped all the paint did you have it stripped to the point where the plastic turned out clear and no longer purple?
I heated then disassembled the figure then let it soak in the thinner for about 3-5 min each dip. When I removed it I used a plastic wire brush to try and remove the original paint. As far as the transparent plastic turning clear I think you answered your own question. The original plastic was made as a transparent purple, there is no way to go past that color point.
