Man of Steel | Superman (Movie Masters) Custom Action Figure
Custom #:48596
Name:Man of Steel | Superman
Custom Type:Action Figure
Toy Series:Movie Masters
Creator:GeekSummit
Date Added:April 5, 2013
Base Figure:Man of Steel Superman
Height:6.00 inches
Completion Time:2.00 hours
Articulation:21 points
I got a hold of a couple VERY early releases of the Man of Steel Superman figures and decided to jump in swinging. I did my standard black wash first to knock the blues down and give the silver ribbing a bit more depth and the moved on to the cape. The cape features wiring for total control as well as a little hot glue to firm it up around the shoulders. The hips were modified to make up for the lack of articulation in the upper torso as well as the neck for added angle for flying poses. Supes is looking pretty super now.

Nice, you captured him to perfection, I still wish they could have used Superman new 52 look for the movie. Great work!

Fitz and yourself have turned these dynamic capes into an art-form! I've tried it once already in one of my previous customs and it wasn't easy, but it sure was fun. AMAZING Supes, bro! Love it!

I guess I should do a new tutorial on this process but it is an addition to FitzJedi's work with wired capes for sure. Just want to give credit.

It figures that YOU would be the one to snag one of these early...but TWO of them?!? The cape looks awesome Bud (as usual) and I'm glad you posted the cape tutorial. The black wash isn't quite working for me though as (and it may just be the pics)it seems a little uneven and...dirty. Again, maybe just the pics. I was also wondering, is the think belt part gold too on the figure or was it navy? Also, the skintone on the factory figures looks a little...yellow? and does it have a 5 o'clock shadow? Just curious. When I eventually get one of these, I think I'm gonna try to paint it like the USA Today promo pics...I realize that's not the movie look, but MAN did it look sweet. Working on yet ANOTHER Cavill right now using a 7" NECA Dolph Lundgren figure. Oh yeah, one more thing...have you seen the 6" Reeve head casts that Glassman has? I'll be ordering one VERY soon, it's a hydroshrunk Hot Toys Reeve head and it is awesome! He has it in 3 3/4" also.

Good work again, I imagine we'll be seeing you do more of these in the future! Now make yourself a PROPER base/stand for that awesome Cavill figure...that little factory one ain't cutting it!

No kidding right? The factory stand is junk.

I had thought about doing a Reeve on the Lundgren body but hadn't gotten around to it. But yeah the black wash was done a little excitedly I won't lie. I wanted to include it in my figure review I did on the Tube last night but it ran well over 15 minutes so I left it out.

I have seen the Glassman Reeve heads on RingoMendoza's figures but they don't capture the crispness of the direct casts. It seems like a lot of the likeness muddies up as it's shrunk.

Any further discoloration is probably from using Mac Preview as my makeshift Photoshop. And yes he does have a little shaded jaw but no sculpted stubble.

The belt sadly just remains blue on this figure. I'm sure that will be addressed in further streetdate releases though. I just wish they would add the abcrunch to this guy. I may just have to do it myself.

Definitely check out the review on YouTube though.

I did use the Tom Welling head. Posted the smallville season 11 superman custom about a month ago. I mentioned you on it..perhaps you missed it..
As for the Reeve heads, I am sticking with the Glassman cast for now..you are right, it does lose a little likeness in the shrinking process, but it looks awesome in person (I have updated that figure recently, with a face and eye repaint that enhance the likeness a little, in case you wanna take a look). I got your heads saved for now, don´t get me wrong, they re good, specially the Clark Kent hairsculpt, but I was a little tired of the New Krypton head...

I actually JUST looked at the figure review for this figure, and was so dissapointed with the coloring.... This is amazing! So much better, and again, I can't even believe your capes, just astonishing.

I love these capes. Got to hand it to Fitz, if he didn't do it on just about every caped figure I might not have tried it once and now on the last 10 I've done. It does add something special to these caped figures. its basically infinite points of articulation. It's really taken my game up a notch.

**Yeah, the coloring is not so bad but they definitely beautified their paintmaster for sure in the USA Today. Be sure and check out my review on YouTube. I do an unboxing and have some good stills.
