I bought the Marvel Select Iron Man 3 MK 42 figure. To my dismay, the low jaw of the helmet, the front shoulder panels, the top chest panel and trim were not painted. Well, I painted everything but the top chest panel. Somehow, it looked better. It’s not movie accurate, but the figure still looks great. The paints used were all Testors Model Master Acryl: gold (panels), steel (trim), flat black (details), and flat white (repulsor). It should be noted, that the gold on the figure matched the gold paint so no additional mixing was required.
Does anyone know an acrylic paint colour that matches the red of this figure?? I have the gold to fix the lip but I want to add more red without having to do a complete repaint of the whole figure. The dominantly gold suit has always rubbed me the wrong way.
Amazing work! Can I just confirm if 4671 is definitely the code for the gold ? I am looking to buy it to do a similar repaint but it looks different on the Testors website! thanks
To answer your question, it is. I had the same reaction when I saw the color on the website. But it looks different once you actually have the bottle of paint.
Dude this looks SOOOO much better. Do you think you could link me to the gold paint you used? And maybe the type of brush? That'd be much appreciated. Just shoot me am Email at Mikeap095@aol. Thanks! Awesome work
Thanks for the compliments. For the paints, I use Testors Model Master Acryl paints. The gloss gold paint is number 4671 in their catalog. I was just lucky that the gold paint matched the one used for the figure. The brushes used were sized 3/0 for the gold parts, and 10/0 for the details.
