I started doing customs to "fix" figures I found in thrift shops. One of my earliest attempts was a cardboard wheelchair for Professor X, and around that time I also tried to make a figure stand for a lovely Ariel figure I found who couldn't be stood up for display because, well, legs are required for that and fins don't get you too far. I cobbled together a figure stand out of air-drying clay and left it as such for about three years. When I got a hold of a second Deep Sea Lara Croft Playmates diorama set, I decided to use that base to re-do the diorama/figure stand for Ariel. A good amount of epoxy putty was used to integrate the existing lump of air-drying clay into the base. I also repainted Ariel's tail and some of the skin tone. Unfortunately, the "water wall" actually doesn't work because Ariel's hair pushes against it, but hopefully you can't tell from these photos!
My sister would love this you just don't know. Here's a funny story. When I was about 12 and my sister was 6. My mom her and I were praying and my mom said tell god what you wanna be when you get older, I had said a base ball player and my sister says a mermaid. This thing just made me stay up all night laughing. Very nice work.
I guess it's very much like how a lot of boys say "when I grow up, I want to be a dinosaur!" Thanks for commenting and it would be awesome if you showed this to your sister!
