"..I've become a better Batman"- Jason Todd/Red Hood

Here's a figure I put together over the weekend from some fodder that actually turned out better than I thought it would. Word is that the upcoming Arkham Origns game has the Red Hood in it and so a Red Hood figure may end up being released from the Arkhamverse but for now..I like this one.

Here's my take on the Red Hood/Jason Todd. I didn't like it when DC resurrected him. But after I saw that he had become a brutal and efficient vigilante I really began to like the character. For me..DC had finally found their Frank Castle/Punisher only this time..his family wasn't killed..he himself was killed. He also saw himself as the true heir to the Batman mantle. He's trained by both Batman and the League of Assasins thanks to the al Ghuls resurrecting him in a Lazarus Pit.
The way I envision him is a lone wolf just like Frank Castle. He steals the gear he needs to get the job done. He takes equipment from Waynetech, Lexcorp, S.T.A.R.labs..whoever has what he needs. He also is very proficient with good old conventional ordnance and uses, flash bang, incindiary grenades, knives, pistols..whatever.
What I didn't want was the all-too-familiar "red light bulb" helmet for him. I wanted something intimidating and functional more along the lines of the masks Army of Two wear. And his gear isn't pristine..it's well used and effective. He also has to keep a connection to his Robin roots so he's got Nightwing's battlesuit and Robin's utility belt.

Ok enough rambling..here's the recipe:

Body/Legs/Hands- Mattel Arkham City Nightwing
Head- DC Collectibles Arkham City Azrael (with a little epoxy sculpt to fill in the hole at the top of his head)
Jacket/arms- Mattel Mr Terrific
Weapons- Fodder from Exendables2, Matrix, Drax the destroyer and Mattel Deathstroke figures...(since taking the pictures I've also given him the P90 style gun from an Avatar figure and it works really well).

By the way..I couldn't resist just one photo with both of my favorite homicidal vigilantes doing what they do best on the only mob boss that ever really mattered...

Hope you enjoy the figure and I look forward to your comments.

Cheers.

Don't know how I missed this one, it's truly awesome! Your use of a Nightwing base is very fitting and your design is unique for the Red Hood. That last pic is a fun one!

Great look overall, very realistic. I miss the lines on the helmet but I'm sure that was an asthetic choice. I really LOVE the Boondock Saints-esque picture at the bottom with Punisher and Don Corleone!

LOL...you picked up on the Boondock Saints tribute. I was going to try the lines on te mask but after I saw a fan film called "Dark Knight Legacy" on you tube that featured the Red Hood I decided to leave them out on mine. I was looking for a more utilitarian, intimidating, less "fancy" look to the head gear. Thank you for the compliments I really appreciate yours and everyones' here.

Very nice! I've been considering trying a Red Hood custom using one of the Arkham City Nightwings as a base, and this proves that it can lead to spectacular results. You did a great job!

The Mattel Nightwing sculpt is just too good to waste. I ended up buying and displaying the DC Collectibles Arkham Nightwing and I really like it..but the Mattel sculpt is a good one. They're actually different to each other also.

Thank you. Like I said I wanted something more intimidating and gritty for his look than what's normally used in the comics and I hope I got something approaching that.

Not a bad look for the character, but I think it might be better without the protruding ears.

Normally I'd agree with you about the ears but in this case I like them because they make the helmet look more mechanical. They don't come out clearly in the photos here but they're not just smooth round bumps, they have edges and bevels which I like the look of. Also it goes further away from the "red light bulb" helmet that is used for the Red Hood and I wanted to avoid that look. Thank you for the comments though, I always enjoy your comments and your customs. Cheers.

Thanks for your reply; that's a very valid justification for the design choice and thanks for taking a look at my own customs! Looking forward to seeing more work from you.
