Okay, since no one else has done a figure of Kid Supreme from Alan Moore’s run on Supreme from the 90’s, I decided that I would do the first. The design I came up with was based upon the artwork of Rick Veitch from issue #42.

To do this figure, I first took a DC Universe Classics Young Justice Superboy figure and, using the boil and pop method, removed the head, forearms, and lower legs from the knees down. Next, I repeated the boil and pop method process on a DC Universe Classics Signature Series Freddy Freeman/Captain Marvel, Jr. and attached his forearms and lower legs to the Superboy body. After carefully sanding off the molded seam on the boots with my Dremel and using paint remover on the Superboy body to remove the “S” symbol and the gray lines of the solar suit, I commenced a full repaint of the bodysuit in Testors Model Masters flat white, the boots in Testors Model Masters Guards Red, the wristbands in Testors Model Masters Shiny Gold, and the neck and hands in Testors Peach. After giving it two coats of each of these colors, I gave the entire body (except for the wristbands) two coats of Flat Clear. Once the two coats of Flat Clear were dry, I gave the wristbands two coats of Gloss Clear. Next, I used my Dremel to create grooves on the figure on both sides of the neck and a hole in the back to accommodate the new cape, which I took from a DC Direct Superman/Batman Vengeance Series Superwoman. With the figure prepped for the cape, I began a full repaint on the cape with the Testors Model Masters Guards Red. After two coats of the Guards Red, I completed the cape with two coats of the Flat Clear.

Next, I glued a new chest symbol onto the figure that resembled the design Rick Veitch used for Kid Supreme in Supreme #42 (the symbol was made by hand at a larger size, and then photocopied and shrunk to proper size...also, since I did not have markers that matched the Guards Red, I glued the symbol to the chest UNcolored...when the glue finally dried, I used my detail brush to paint the white paper with two coats of the Guards Red...when that dried, I gave it two coats of Flat Clear).

After the Flat Clear dried, I glued the cape in place.

With the glue finally dry, I removed the Superboy figure’s neck post and jammed a small glob of Milliput into the head cavity and pushed a homemade neck post with a ball joint in it to create a new peg hole. Once the Milliput had dried, I glued the new post in place (this was done because the existing ball joint/post on the Superboy figure was too long and the head I intended to use would have moved around like it was a bobble head). Lastly, when the glue had dried, I used the boil and pop method to attach the head from a DC Direct Crisis on Infinite Earths Series 3 Earth-Prime Superboy, and TA-DA...Kid Supreme in his first costume from Supreme #42!!!!

Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.

Nice looking figure, despite the grainy pics. A note for the future: Better pics = More votes! And, a better appreciation for your work...

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. He was definitely the first Kid Supreme figure, but he won't be the last. I have three more coming...this one's second costume, the Charles Flanders version, and the Danny Fuller version.
