In Slavic mythology, a Rusalka (plural: Rusalki or Rusalky) is the female spirit of a girl who drowned either by suicide or murder, come back as an undead being of the unclean forces. While her primary dwelling was the body of water in which she died, the Rusalka could come out of the water at night, climb a tree, and sit there singing songs with a voice like wind through the reeds and comb her hair. They can appear as beautiful, extremely pale women with translucent skin, but their true appearance is like that of a drowned corpse. Their eyes shine like green fire with out visible pupils. The Rusalka's hair is sometimes depicted as green or golden and is perpetually wet. The rusalka could not live long on dry land and should the Rusalka's hair dry out, she would die. Rusalki lure men and children to the waters edge with their song and beauty before seizing their prey in a vice like grip and drag them to the bottom of the water. Rusalki sometimes do take human lovers but unfortunately most of such unions end tragically for the human. As is usually the case, the Rusalka extracts a promise from her mortal lover and when such promise is broken, the Rusalka reveals herself to be the supernatural creature she is, often taking the life of the human in the process. Absinthe leaves cast on the surface of the water was said to prevent a Rusalka from drowning you. Rusalka was made from a Dagger figure with Namor feet, sculpted ribs from greenstuff for that deathly corpse look. Her eyes glow in the dark. Her tree perch is a repainted aquarium decoration and the bones of her victims are from a Pirates of the Caribbean cage playset thing molded into some greenstuff and painted. The aren't attached to the tree and can be moved. Hope you guys like, thanks for looking. ![]() |
