So, I'm loving the new Ms Marvel. Kamala Khan is looking to be a great role model for girls out there, as well as a window inside a faith many might stereotype [and, so far, doing so without falling back on cliches themselves]. Because of my huge fanboying over the new book, I wanted to get this figure out there. The recipe is simple: • Lower Legs = Mystique. • Everything Else = Hope Summers. I dremelled back some hair on Hope and added my own scultping (only minor details to make it more 'Kamala'). I also took Hope's cape and cut it to shape so it'd form Ms Marvel's scarf-type-thing (that's a scientific term). The skirt part of the dress was what I had issues with. This is only my second custom so I wasn't really sure what would work and what wouldn't. I didn't want to lose too much articulation but I also really wanted the whole dress to look like one piece, rather than a bit of fabric tacked on for the skirt. I settled on the material from a pencil case and just sculpted over where it met the base figure to try and smooth it out as much as possible. I pushed my painting skills with doing a skin tone (I find this the trickiest thing to nail), as well as trying to get the lips natural and doing the eyes (much frustration!). I can definitely see a lot of room for improvement here but I'm pretty happy with it overall and she looks great in a scene. ![]() |

And might I add that you pulled off that skirt very nicely
