Recently decided to try spray painting out, so I picked up a few cans of Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric paint and went to work. I've had this figure sitting around waiting to be painted up ever since I bought a movie Electro weeks ago and saw that his head would make a good Iceman (at least better than the crappy head on the All New X-Men set Iceman). I haven't worked with spray paints since my design degree in college, and I was happy with how well they covered the figure with minimal effort. I'm definitely planning on incorporating sprays on future projects from now on!

Recipe:
Main Body: IL ASM2 Superior Spider-Man
Head: IL ASM2 Electro
Hands: HML Ares Series Vision
**he also has alternate "classic" X-Men boot lower legs that can be swapped on depending on how I feel like displaying him. Pics of those later.**

You got nice coverage on it with barely any blotches or bubbles. You did well especially since it was originally a dark color. "Ultra Cover 2X" goes on well, but could be tricky. Let it dry for a whole day and wear a mask.

he looks fantastic! I have had some issues with tackiness when using any kind of spray. How long did it take him to dry completely?

Thanks for the comment! I think it really comes down to what type/brand of spray you use. I'd researched the topic quite a bit before buying anything, and Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric seemed to get a positive review from a lot of customizers (not recommended for spraying soft/rubbery plastic like capes though). The paint dries "to the touch" within minutes, allowing you to pick the figure up and reposition it for the next spray coat. If I were to guess how long before it is fully cured though, I'd say about 7-8 hours just to be safe. You'll want to be REALLY careful moving joints around or handling the figure before the paint fully cures; dry to the touch paint is still very vulnerable to rubbing right off.

Cool, working on solid color figure is a good way to practice spray paint. Going to make the Silver Surfer next?

Awesome Iceman! , I too use spray paint in some of my works too , I found they work quite nicely if not overdone , so congrats on a successful experiment , plus if I may suggest , you can create ice special effects with a glue gun (no need to color at all) , X-cellent work man!!!

Thanks for the comments! I do a lot of hot glue sculpting, so I'm familiar with the technique. I'm really stoked on the possibilities with the spray paints!
