Here is my fine new Blade custom - finally! I finished it several weeks ago, but I've had a lot of problems taking pictures lately; my camera died and even with three lamps directed exactly at the figure, the pictures still come out dark and foggy and whatever. So I had to clean the pictures up a lot in Photoshop, adjusting levels, brightness and colors and stuff to make the pictures best represent the figure as it looks IRL. I made a Blade custom last year (picture below next to WIP picture) but as my customs got better and better, that one just wasn't good enough. This Blade started out as an update of that custom, but I ended up using none of the same parts. I decided to go with the "Nightstalkers" outfit again. I'd like to make "Classic Blade" and "Modern Blade" too at some point if I have time and parts... I used a FO Captain America's upper body, Kraven legs, and the head from Falcon. I sculpted shirt and jacket, shortened the gloves and made them smooth. Added a small knife to his right leg and a bunch of small stakes at his left leg. THe knife is removable but the stakes aren't. The details of his outfit changes from different artists and issues, but in several he's got four knives in each boot. I didn't have 8 identical knives, but I had at least 4 Kraven knives so I put two in each boot. The spikes on his shoulder are just toothpicks and on the other shoulder are more stakes. I still don't know if it's supposed to be stakes that he has there and on the leg, but I don't know what else it could be, so I went with that. I sculpted the hair on his head filled in the edges from the mask and sculpted new eyebrows. I looked at a lot of heads to use, but the Falcon head seemed pretty good and I hade one, and I am really happy I went with it because I think it fits perfectly. The sword I don't know who it came with, but it looked like the right type for Blade. As with most of these things made of soft plastic, it had become a "curved" sword, and not in a good way. So I applied some FIXIT Sculpt on both sides of the blade and put a weight on it, and once it had cured it was straight. But even though I sanded on it a lot it's still not smooth enough. It was a nice idea but not so great result. But I'm happy with how I painted the handle so it's good. I'm really proud of this figure. I don't think I've seen a Blade this good and comic accurate before, so I challenge anyone to do it better. I added some of my favorite Blade "cool" quotes on each picture, so check that out. It's proof he was a tough guy even the movie came, portraying him as super cool. I'm going to take some pictures of Blade and the Nightstalkers as well as my whole Midnight Sons team next time I take pictures! Hope you like this one; thanks for looking! ![]() |

SoV: Yes, the shoulders were something I didn't really know what to do with. The shoulders on the Captain America are very sloping, and I tried to raise them a bit , but I thought if I had done it too much it would've looked strange, I don't know, I blame it on the base figure, but I really enjoyed the base other than that. It's something different from the regular bodies I use, which tend to be a lot of the same. I try to make up for it by never using the same head twice, unless it's greatly modified. Some people don't mind a bunch of different characters having identical faces, but I do, so I do my best to make my customs look as much as the reference pictures I use.
Thanks for your comments!!
