Hello Fellow Realmers! Today I present you with the Davey Blaze Customs - 1st Appearance version of a Classic Hulk Villain....THE MISSING LINK!!!!! (First Appearance Incredible Hulk vol. 1, Issue #105, 1968). This figure was a BIG challenge (No Pun Intended). He Stands at 10 Inches Tall. His Head is a 100% Original Davey Blaze Customs Sculpt. Most of his Body including his Abdomen, pectorals, neck, upper arms and legs and his Loin Cloth were sculpted. He also GLOWS IN THE DARK!!! This is to emulate the characters "Radioactive Glow". His Headsculpt was based on researching actual Neanderthal Skulls, so the anatomy of the head really started with the skull. I wanted it to be authentic and realistic but still be true to the trademark exaggeratedly large eyes that the character has in the comics. He was designed with the goal of being Comic Book height accurate with my Custom Incredible Hulk, which is about an inch taller than the Marvel Select Incredible Hulk. His body was constructed using parts from a Classic Covers Creech Action Figure and a Marvel Select Red Hulk. I used my own secret methods for constructing a super-strong body. This fellow is about as heavy duty and very solid. Precautions taken to avoid paint rub. More photos are posted at my Official Website. I hope you all like the Davey Blaze Customs version of..... I've been wanting him to make grotesqueries, twisted monsterous characters, just to see what he will do with them. He is obviously so talented at making oddball body shapes. But I would also like to see him do some classically ideal "Superman" type characters, like Captain Marvell, just to see what expression would end up on their faces.
I have to say thank you for making an old 1970s Hulk reading fan a happy owner of a Missing Link. Way back when, he was considered a major Hulk nemesis for a short time. He was just one of those characters that you always wanted, but never thought you would see a figure of. You really topped yourself with this one!
Davey, your Missing Link just might be your absolute masterpiece. Putting Davey Blaze characters next to a regular Marvel Legends toy makes you see how lacking in emotion and attitude most figures are. He has been quietly creating little masterpieces. Real works of art that take custom figure modeling in a very creative direction. If Davey Blaze can top this one, I can't wait to see it.
The body posture/shape, color and wonderful headsculpt sells the entire look.
He deserves a "Most Talked About Custom" spot.
