This custom has been MONTHS in the making. The head was sculpted for me by Deadeye and he did an amazing job, I must say!! The body is a ML Blackheart. Originally I had put ML4 Beast's lower legs on this, but I didn't like how they looked. They were waaaay too bulky, so I spent a long time trying to find the proper "cat-like" legs. While browsing e-bay one day I discovered the "Realm of the Cat" series by Stan Winston. I had never seen these figures before in Canada, but it looked like the legs were just what I was looking for. So I started asking fellow collectors if they had any to trade, but alas, apparently these figures weren't that collectible. Probably why the line is now defunct! So I ended up getting one off a website. In order to keep my figures height roughly to scale, I cut the lower legs of the Claw figure off just below the knee joint. I then drilled holes for the horizontal knee pin to go in and then made vertical cuts in the top of the knee to create a void that the Blackhearts kneecap joint could fit into. While this didn't turn out as good as I wanted, I only had the one figure to try this with. I think it came out pretty good for my first attempt at doing something like this! The wings are from a Sentinel series Angel attached to his back with screws and plastic clips that anchor mirrors to a wall. The hands are from some Shadowrun figure. The belt is craft foam and the shoulder pads and trunks were sculpted with Sculpey. The one very disappointing part of this figure is that while using my heat gun to harden the sculpey of his trunks, the legs just "fell" loose. I imagine I melted some piece inside the pelvis that kept the legs tight. This makes Griffin very hard to stand since the hips are extremely wobbly. After putting in so much time and effort on him, the thought of starting all over just isn't very appealing right now. Maybe at some point in the future I'll fix him up, but since he is going to be displayed in flight, I don't think it's all that important right now. I hope everyone enjoys this custom. I think it is one of my best pieces. And again, kudos to Deadeye for the amazing head sculpt. This figure wouldn't have happened without that!

Thanks for the kind words freddie! Yours was actually kind of an inspiration for me to do this one. I saw what you did and then said, "I have got to get me one of those!!"
I tried to make it comic accurate but every reference picture I could find looked a little different . It was kind of maddening to decide on the "right" look. Your interpretation is still pretty darn close to some of those pics and by the way I like your choice in wings over mine. They make him look a little more...dangerous
I pm'ed Deadeye to give him the first look at my finished product but I haven't heard back from him which is unusual. I hope he's doing okay????

this is bad to the bone! I think it looks more comic accurate than the way I did mine...which I knew I couldn't get mine comic accurate so I always say, it's just an interpretation of my vision of the character that way I don't get busted out too much on the accuracy...lol! but this one is very, very accurate and I always love seeing customs that are made so close to that perfection. they bring the pages of the comics to life, that's for sure. great job Prince Brent! how are you contacting Deadeye...haven't heard from him in a coon's age!
