I grew up loving Ninja Turtles comics, movies, and cartoons. Now I love watching the new show with my kids, and was inspired to custom make my favorite turtle…. Raphael! I used a MU Warpath as a base, and just went crazy on it sculpting him from head to toe. I also custom made his sais because the GI Joe ones I had were too small to fit around his fingers. I used a medium gage wire to design them to make sure they were sturdy, then sculpted over them. Now I just need to make 3 more!
Seriously just a massive amount of skills with this custom friend... it literally looks like the factory toyline except even better... noticing a few things on here though. Did you actually add a thigh swivel on this Warpath?(because Warpath doesn't have them) and great job on the bicep, I know that belongs to an older MU fig-the more classic less detailed biceps. Also is the head scratch sculpt?
Wow, thanks so much TA! You're right those aren't warpath legs. I remember now that his legs were too fat and didn't look right, so I used steve rogers legs that had that swivel! I did the head sculpt from scratch, over the figure's head so it had the same swivel on the kneck.
Sorry bro but this is just too friggin awesome, I had to comment again. Cowabunga bro, I can't wait to see the rest of the green machine. This Raph reminds me of Raphael from his look in the comic Bad Moon Rising. The shell on his back is beautiful. Is that sculpted too??
Wow, thanks again!! I love that comic, and the original look! I feel like the new series does a good job with their design. (not sure how I feel about the M Day movie design yet though) The shell is all sculpted and carved…. he is one solid radical dude!
When I saw this posted on the new customs wall, I just figured it was a simple repaint. Then I clicked on it and saw Warpath and I did a double take on. That's all sculpted!?!?!?! Wow, serious sculpting skills
Seriously, I appreciate your comment YBulltois!! Thank you for the compliment on Raphael! I was afraid I mirrored too closely to the current toy line, and it would look like a simple repaint.... but then that's the best compliment I could think of, because I wanted it to resemble the new toy line, just at a smaller scale.
