Good evening Realmers, or more like good morning. Today's custom is my second version of Classic Nightwing. Always been a big fan of Richard Grayson, and even though I myself would never be caught dead in a costume like this, its still one of my favorites.
Started out with a Lightning Lad for the base, primarily because he shares a lot of the same colors with Nightwing, which always comes in handy for eliminating paint rub. LL is also the same height as the wave 16 Robin, although unfortunately, not nearly as articulated. The head is a cast from the casting cave with a new sculpted mask. I prefer the eyes painted white as opposed to seeing his pupils. I wanted to do a short collar this time around, so I got one from the a cloak in the fodder drawer, couldn't tell you what figure it came from. I dremeled out a little valley so I could countersink it into his shoulders and sculpted over the seam to make it look nice. I did take the body apart to swap out the yellow shoulder discs Lightning Lad comes with and replaced them with some gray ones from the Vampire Batman. That was a little more difficult than I anticipated and in doing so I cracked the ab joint, so I had to replace that. After a slight detour, I was back in business, added his wrist bracers and got to painting. Having done this before, the line work is tedious and not very pleasant to do, but I think he came out alright and looks great on the shelf with the rest of my Teen Titans.
