Captain James Hook is the most feared Pirate in all seven seas. He once sailed to the fantastical shores of the floating island of Neverland in his ship the Jolly Roger. There he attacked the islands natives and Kidnapped the Chiefs daughter holding her for ransom. The leader of the Lost Boys of the island, Peter Pan, the boy who could fly, fought back and cut off James' right hand in a fierce duel and fed it to a passing hungry crocodile. Fleeing Neverland Captain James swore an oath, he would destroy Pan if it's the last thing he'll do. Biding his time, he had his hand replaced with a large iron hook earning himself the name Captain Hook. He used this new weapon to strike fear in those he ruthlessly attacked, but he never forgot his oath. One fateful day he met someone who would help him, the Hag. She too wanted revenge for what had befallen her. If Hook would help her, she would make him more powerful and feared than ever before and get his revenge, but only if he would bring her the Blue Fairy Diamond that her magic mirror had shown her. Agreeing to her bargain, Hook learned of the one way to get his revenge on Peter, he must take away his Happy Thoughts. And so Hook set off once again to the shores of Neverland to enact his revenge and steal the diamond.

Peter Pan is one of my favourite Disney films (and books) and Hook is one of their most iconic villains. I wanted to use the classic Disney costume as a basis but make my Hook more regal and fearsome looking than the comedic Disney Hook, something more befitting the ruthless Pirate Captain of the novel. Trivia: In the novel, it is Hook's right hand that is missing, Disney made it Hook's left hand as they felt loosing his right would hinder his animation movements. (I made mine missing his right hand as a nod to Hooks origins)
