Loki is my choice of magic users. I used only the base model for the Thor Dark World series Loki, but noting that much of his figure was recycled parts from the previous Avengers Loki, the costume details were all wrong. I carved and sanded to fix the upper arms, removing the molded armor and replacing it with painted fabric folds. I added details to the gauntlets, entirely repainted his face and hands to a paler shade, to look more realistic. The default for this figure is pretty orange in skintone. His eyes have tiny pupils and tiny highlights. I removed the knee armor from his boots and painted them correctly. I removed the strap across his chest and replaced it with carved fabric folds. Repainted the entire figure, added in a lot more gold detailing as per the movie costume, and cut the slit in the back of his vest thing. Then I used drybrushing and pastels to do highlights and shading and sealed the whole thing. The figure is only 3.5 inches tall.
beautiful work, especially on a figure this small. I think this outfit is an amazing combination of his armor and casual outfits from avengers 1. did you know that his right shoulder armor is the same one he wears on his casual outfit in avengers 1?
You know what I really love about your painting is the "gentleness" you use when shading in the base color & the darker tones. Guessing you use the dry pastel technique like you would with dolls, but the paleness really came out awesome! I'd love to see you try this technique out on some musculature, say for example a MU Hercules or any shirtless figure.
