For months I've had an extra BTAS Penguin in my " to do " project box because I wanted to make him more cartoon accurate. I pushed that project back because sculpting the coat was going to be a pain & I dreaded starting it. Well, Tyke had a great idea to use the coat from the new Multiverse Devito Penguin. So I finally found that Penguin this week.
I tried to paint Penguin to make him more cartoon accurate also. Kenner did a pretty decent job with the sculpt, but the tie, eyepiece, were the wrong colors & of course that cloth coat he came with just wasn't right. Thanx to mattel for something because that coat that comes with the movie figure is perfect. I trimmed mine a bit to make it shorter since in the cartoon his coat does not come down to his ankles. I didn't think it was possible but if you move the head around you can actually get the coat under his hair, so it really does look perfect. Here's the finished product.
Looks great! I had that figure as a kid (I won a huge bundle of TAS figures and vehicles from the UK edition of The Batman Adventures comic). I kinda liked the cloth coat but this is a nice upgrade.
