WELL DONE !! You've shown us the great potential of 3D printer and your work is a masterpiece !
That means you could be able to make some TIE-fighters never seen before (example Tie-Defender or Tie-Avenger) with this high quality level ?

Thanks. I have thought about modeling up some of the more obscure fighters. One of these days.

I have access to a 3D printer. Is there any way I could get the schematic? I would like to try and print one for myself.

My files are a bit scattered right now. I am planning on cleaning them up and getting them to one place in the near future. If you go over to my blog customtecture.blogspot you can send me an email with your contact information and when I do get the files put together I'll let you know.

WOW!! NICELY DONE! I gotta ask: What was the cost of this? Would it be cost effective to make a bunch? If so this thing could alter everyone's ability to have a ceiling full of space battles!!

Materials didn't cost that much - two sheets of craft plywood and some plastic filament. It did take a lot of time to print.

The real cost is in the equipment - 2K for the printer and over 12K for the laser. They are not mine (there are owned by the company I work for - so I don't feel comfortable making things for profit on them.

I do want to make at least one if not two regular tie fighters as well. Maybe I'll kickstarter them in order to get these out to more people. We'll see.

Wait so you have to buy a laser for a 3d printer?

I used both a 3d printer and a laser cutter. Though you could theoretically do the whole thing with just a 3d printer.

I have to ask if you ever plan on making more of these to sell?

Thanks! See my comment above about making some to sell. Maybe I'll start a kickstarter to get the printer.

I misread that as having been modeled in ketchup. Which I thought was a really novel and unique use for that sauce. But this is also impressive too.

This is funny because I hate the taste of ketchup. Though if I could model with it - it might not be so bad.
