I am a fan of this mold but whilst the robot mode looks great, I thought the Dino mode was disappointing.

So rather than just repaint I decided to try and beef up his Dino mode a little.

First thing I did was swap his arms with the deluxe Scorn... I thought Scorn's arms had better proportions to Grimlock's Dino mode (although they are a little big for his robot mode).

For his back section and tail I used the chest plate and tail from the Strafe construct-bot set... the size was just about right and it sits nicely in place with the tail wedged between the existing legs/tail. Removing the various clips was a pain but turned out quite well.

I also added a piece to the back of Grimlock's Dino legs to give them a little more bulk.

Other parts were taken from various other transformers and general fodder. The sword came from an Optimus Prime/ Megatron construct-bot set (it's a good size in bot mode and stores nicely in Dino mode).

In Robot mode the tail and back section can be used as a shield or stored on his back.

As with the other Dinobots Grimlock was given a metalic paint scheme (not screen accurate), this time I went for gold.

Overall I am really happy with how this turned out.
