Introducing my first painted build: 1/144 Gouf Custom - Sazabi Colored. All in all, it was a really fun project. There were some moments where I wanted to throw it across the room though. Paint chipping, almost losing parts, paint chipping, super tight joints, paint chipping, overspray, and most importantly, PAINT CHIPPING!!! The chipping got to the point where I had no choice but to make this build battle-damaged. Despite how much I love that weathering gives it a lot of personality and uniqueness, it was disappointing to see my hard work slow chip away as the paint gave in. However this is just my first attempt at Gunpla so the only thing I can take away from this is to be more cautious, have better prep work, and strive to be better! I did experiment with some things such as using acrylic markers and chalk pastels for weathering, causing armor damage with my X-Acto knife, and painting a faux carbon fiber pattern onto the shield. I believe I did a decent job with all these things. It was a challenge, but at the same time it didn’t feel like a task.
