I wanted to make a Cable that towered over the other figures. I didn't want him to be the same height as Deadpool or Cyclops. Once we saw the Hyperion body used for Stryfe back at Toy Fair, I went to work.
I sculpted over the left arm, and made the techno organic virus arm. I sculpted details of the belt and attached gas canisters, and grenandes, pouches and more pouches. I wanted Cable to look like his early days. So Liefeld art with tons of straps and crazy gun were necessary.
I built up the entire padded collar piece and shoulders to support padding. If I didn't do this the pads alone would sag with the weight of the sculpt over them. So with them supported by a larger torso base, I attached the pads and sculpted over them to make them look right.
With all of the sculpt added Cable is heavy. Really heavy. He added a ton of sculpt to the top half torso and a lot on the boots and lower legs.
He got more detail work around his flesh arm glove and sleeve. Then a hand painted paint job was applied head to toe. His head looks realistic with the flesh tones and scars. His cybernetic eye is metallic gold.
He took me months to get just right and I kept putting off finishing him because it was a ton of work. He is done now and I wanted to show him off.
