The Gatchaman, otherwise better known from the cartoon Battle of the Planets are as beloved in other countries as Star Wars and Marvel Comics are here in the states. They're pretty popular here in the US, too! Originating in Japan, even Spain and France saw Gatchaman merchandise in the 1970s that the US didn't, as they have always been an international phenomenon.

Diamond Select made some decent Battle of the Planets figures about ten years ago. They have pretty nice helmets, which I used on these custom figures, but their articulation wasn't as impressive. These were commissioned, and I strove to build the most awesome classic, definitive Marvel Legends style Battle of the Planets figures imaginable. This is what Toybiz might have produced if they had continued past the first two series of Legendary Comic Book Heroes figures. Jun is a combination of the Diamond Select figure, a Hope Summers and an Emma Frost figure with a lot of retooled, resculpted and repainted parts. Magnets are placed inside the weapons so that they can attach to the belt, which also has a magnet placed in it. Jun's Yo Yo weapon accessory has a "string" made from a coated wire, so that it can be posed like the weapon it is.
