Dora, Dora, Dora...the Explorer!!

I'm going be honest. Before this contest was announced, I never watched a single episode of Dora the Explorer. All I knew about Dora is that my two young nieces loved this insanely popular character and her face was in every toy store I browse thru. When I decided to created a grown-up version of Dora I did some research and started watching (gulp!!) her popular show and listened to the theme song till get my ears bleed to get a feel for this character. Pretty much its a cool show where young children can understand & learn alot by watching because they are also involved and at the same time learn some basic spanish.

Here what I did to create a young adult version of her and monkey companion Boots.
I took ML Rachel Summers torso and connected to ML She Hulk legs,then added Sota Sakura sneaker and Epoch Tekken Jun Kazama head which I modified and repainted to eliminate her asian appearance and painted a cartoony grown up Dora face. Next I sculpted hair but made her bangs longer & swept to the side for a mature look. Sculpt work was also done shorts, backpockets,belt. Dora accessories are her sota sakura backpack a grappling hook and Dora right wrist braclet which she always wears.

For Dora monkey friend Boots, I got a Ben 10 spider monkey figure, cut off the extra arms and sculpted red boots, hair & his entire new face to remove the cyborg image it had before..then attached DCUC Cheetah tail for artculation.
Finally painted both in their show colors with multiple level of shading and they were done
I hope you like them because I really tried to stay true to their cartoony image as they gotten older.
