These are web lines made for Spider-Man figures (or other similar characters). I attempted to produce a McFarlane-esque design. These particular ones are being displayed on a Marvel Select Spider-Man, but they could work with pretty much anything. They retain reasonable flexibility and poseability with no noticeable paint removal.

Simple and effective. Dunno why I didn't think of this before. I have wires.. though not a Spider-Man figure that I'm suitably satisfied with.
