Made this guy a while ago as a commission for a friend. A big fan of Thanos. I only used parts that he requested for the recipe, and a color scheme that he chose since the color of his attire changed from artist to artist throughout the Annihilation Saga. Skreet was made from a Chaos War Heroclix Wasp figure with the wasp sting removed, and Fixit sculpted hair and two piece bikini. Afterwards she was painted by hand, I also made sure to give her eyes and a mouth (if you were wondering, no, I didn't use a magnifying glass, just my naked eyes). I also used magnets to allow her to be perched on either of Thanos' shoulders, or her Heroclix base (not pictured). Okay now that that's out of the way; let's move on to the main event: Thanos A First Appearance Hulk from the Galactus BAF wave was used for the Upper body, arms, and crotch. The legs and boots were from Maestro Hulk, and the loin cloths came from DCUC Dr. Mid-Nite and Star Man figures (they're both the same cape, just different decos). I cut the capes at specific locations to show different folds. The head was a ROML BAF Terrax with the beard dremeled off. I dremeled/sanded off the texture of the boots and smoothed them with acetone. I also dremeled off the pant cuffs (or whatever the Hell they're called) around the calves and resculpted them to show the length of the boots. The hand guards, wrist bandages, and metal plating details were sculpted in Aves Fixit Sculpt. The orange sleeves were sculpted in a blend of orange and bronze Aves Apoxie Sculpt to prevent paint rub. The white shirt, seams, and scarf were all sculpted in Fixit, with the straps that cross under the arms being sculpted with brown Aves. The crotch was dremeled and resculpted to match the texture of the pants. The belt was sculpted over the sliced capes that I hot glued to the front and back of the waist. The buckle was also sculpted out of bronze Aves, and all twelve pouches were scratch-built from Green Stuff and later glued in place. Terrax's head had a serious dent in the center (I don't know if it was just mine or if they're all like that. Either way, mine was dropped on his head as a child... Probably why he's such a jerk) so I resculpted and smoothed it, and the cheeks, out with Fixit. The ears were also sculpted from Fixit, along with his rippled chin. Afterwards I filled all the joint holes for good measure. As for painting, this was my first time using an airbrush (I have a cheap one that came in a starter kit). I used it to base coat his pants, skin, and all white articles of clothing. The only shading I did with my airbrush was on the white articles of clothing, the rest of the figure was then painted by hand. With one exception. After painting the eyes solid black, I airbrushed his pupils fading from red to white for his glowing eyes. Hope you like him; he was a challenge, but a fun one! And he went to a very nice guy. Thank you very much for taking a look :) ![]() |
