It always seemed a shame to me that we got Uncle Sam in the DC Subscription. Not because I'd already made one, but because there never seemed like a reasonable chance of Mattel ever completing any complete Freedom Fighters team from any era in the limited shelf-life the line still had. Without the rest of the squad, Uncle Sam kind of stands listless amongst the rest of DCUC (unless you have a substantial All-Star Squadron lineup like me). But I digress. Of all the Freedom Fighters members, Phantom Lady always seemed to do well enough in the fan polls. Perhaps because she was a US Senators daughter? Actually, Phantom Lady was one of the first costumed female superheroes of the 1940's so it's shame she never got a figure made of her. I got commissioned to make her for someone, so while I was making one for someone else, it only seemed reasonable that I might as well make one for myself as well. This version was for me, in which she's wearing her black light projector on her wrist. Sandy was made mostly from a DCUC Power Girl body to give her that buxom appearance. Her top, black light wrist and boots were all sculpted. Her head is a combination of an ML Hope Summers head and DCUC Super Woman hair. Not sure if or when I'll get to the remaining Freedom Fighters, but Phantom Lady was always one I considered essential, so I'm happy to now cross her off my list. Thanks for looking! ![]() |
