Saw some great customs of Slash for inspiration, had a spare ML Abomination lying around, so I chopped his ears, heated up some turtles for their shells.....not real ones, toy ones. Found a broken Mr. Sinister cape tassel for a mask.....took some liberties on that and made it an eye patch mask because Abomination has some some wicked yellow eyes and I wanted that to be Slash's yellow eye. He doesn't need his other white eye on my toy, looks blind anyway so I made him that way. Let Slash borrow a samurai sword from my Optimus Prime and after an epic battle with Dark Alliance Cremator he took his axe and spear for this pic. He would have posed with some adamantium claws, but Wolverine got away! Now he is ready to smash some turtle shells. Update: trimmed inner shell under the chin to allow for better head movement and shows more neck and top of chest after an observant suggestion. May still trim a little more, but for now I'll stay with this one. Added a pic to show this while 2nd pic is the original design for comparision.
It was a Safari Ltd. Incredible Creatures red eared slider turtle. They make all kinds of turtles, tortoises, sea turtles, snapper, etc. EBay, Amazon, or their company website etc, sells them for about $10.
Hi again. I was browsing tmnt figures again and was taking a good look at yours and I thought id offer a suggestion. The part of the inner shell thats under his chin, I think it would look cool if that part was trimmed at the highest "V" shaped seam and then the corners rounded off just barely. This would get that part away from his neck/chin and expose more of his chest making him look more beefy and menacing. Anyway just thought id throw that out there.
Thanks FigureHunter! I was thinking about that before I did it, then somewhere along the way, I forgot about it. Definitely cuts out head/neck movement and makes his head look smaller like he's just barely peeking out of his shell. I see your point, trimming the shell will show Abomination's thick neck and top of upper chest. You are exactly right! Easy to correct! Thanks for pointing that out!
You're welcome. I think it will change the whole look of the figure. You can update your post with new pictures too. I'd like to see it when it's done. Im glad you were so cool about the suggestion.
Thanks Vic! I saw some Turtle figs, some Whiplash, some LizardMan, Killer Crocs, etc. and I went with what I had. That base is pretty versatile, goes with anything, especially reptiles. My son wasn't playing with the bigger Marvel Legends figs like Hulk or Juggernaut because they were too big, and his TMNT turtles are smaller. So I just made something quick to bridge the gap and called him Slash! Now he's got them all out and Slash has kicked Juggernaut ass for the 10th time today!
Thanks Banner! Hahaha yeh 1st non MOTUC fig! Time to hit the range, use my super hero target acquisition ability to blast holes in paper targets to celebrate with my Steyr!
