Bio: Jacob Roman was a child prodigy, having graduated from MIT at the age of 13 and boosts no less than 5 masters degrees. At the age of 18 Jacob moved to Babylon and was hired on at Lords Industries with his own lab and worked closely with founder and CEO Alexander Lords. For 10 years Jacob and Lords had a very profitable relationship. Jacob built various weapons and tech that was then sold to the government However Roman discovered his tech was also being used and sold to enemy nations and terrorist organizations. Jacob was not happy with this, not because of the immorality of it, but because he was not informed and was not getting his cut of the profits. Confronting Alexander Lords about this, Lords felt disrespected by this insolence and decided to make and example out of Jacob. Sending some hired muscle to Jacobs home, these men attacked and brutalized Jacob. Even going so far as to horribly disfiguring his face. To add insult to injury, Lord’s men saw fit to hand Jacob a pink slip and inform him everything he invented for Lords Industries was their property. After spending several months in rehab, Jacob learned a valuable lesson. He learned that if he wanted respect and power, he would have to take it by any means necessary. Building a suit of armor and weapons, Jacob took the name of Vulcan, the Roman name of Hephaestus the god of the forge, he began a new career as a mercenary for hire. Using the money he gets from completed jobs to create new tech that he adapts and tests on jobs. If the tech proves successful, he will mass produce it and sell it to the highest bidder. As he waits patiently for the opportune time to get his revenge, Vulcan has quickly risen to become one of the most feared, respected and highest paid mercenaries in the world. Recently Vulcan has been hired by a mysterious benefactor to take out Saber. A while back, I noticed a lot of people make their own custom mercenary figures on various forums. It got me inspired to do something so I just started rummaging through my parts box. Slowly putting parts together I came up with a design I really liked and knew, like all my original ideas, it was going to be incorporated into my Stormbearer Universe but I needed a name and back story. So I started looking through various material and came across a Greek mythology book I have. The book listed the Roman equivalent of the Greek gods. As soon as I saw Vulcan, the back story practically wrote itself. Vulcan quickly became one of my favorite customs. This is a character I could easily see fitting in a multitude of different universes. From Marvel/Dc to Star Wars to Gi Joe and everything in between. ![]() |
