I've been following the Injustice: Gods Among Us comic series for some time now and it got me really wanting to do my own Swamp Thing figure. I've had a bunch of older wrestling figures around and I thought one of them would be a perfect base for everyone's favorite swamp man. In this case, I tried to base his appearance more around his Injustice design-where he looks much more human then wild plant life. Like I said, started with a WWE figure. Base figure got a new head and hands, and then I completely sanded down his boots to make them look more like they were part of his body. Next step was to resculpt his face into the traditional ST look, as well as sculpting the plant growth on his shoulders/back. The vines all around his body aren't sculpt, rather, hot glue. It was much quicker, easier and I think more organic looking then sculpting them individually. To top off the shoulder growth, I also, after painting, used some small Lego piece flowers to make him look more alive. Bunch of different paints were used to try and make him look more wild-3 different greens, washes of black and dry brushes of brown all topped him off before I sealed him up to keep him fresher longer. Finally, he got a small removable vine accessory that fits in a hole I drilled into his left hand, just to give him a little green to control. ![]() |
