Another Disney custom, Aurora looked lonely on the shelf. Prince Philip the Valiant hails from the peaceful and happy Kingdom of Fantasia, the only child of King Florian the Charming and Queen Snow White the Fair. Phillip was loved by his parents and the whole kingdom, a kind, noble and brave Prince as every good Prince should be. Unlike some other Royal families who had Fairy Godmothers, Phillip and his parents had Seven Guardians, Dwarves from the tribe that inhabit the Far Away Mountains. They had sworn to protect and serve the Royal Family after the kindness shown to them from Snow White many years ago. When the Dwarves would descend from the mountains to visit the Royal family, such times were always so joyful and fun and as he grew up, the Dwarves would tell Phillip stories of the Dwarf Mines where a million diamonds shine and it was these Dwarves that had forged a sword for Phillip of gold, steel and crushed diamond dust for his eightieth birthday. A sword like no other, strong enough to withstand the hardest blow and sharp enough to slice through virtually any material. By the age of twenty one he had slain a marauding ogre, vanquished a ghoul and thwarted a troll and was often out roaming the woods on horseback seeking adventure. Little did he know that adventure would eventually come to him when the Dwarves and the Sorcerer Yensid arrived at Castle Fantasia one evening. Yensid came with some grave news, Grimhilde was alive and after the powerful Blue Fairy Diamond which has been unearthed in the Dwarf Mines. Yensid told them what he had seen in his crystal ball four nights ago, the Hag, Grimhilde, lurking in the Haunted Forest, watching him watching her with her enchanted mirror. The King and Queen where stunned, the past had come back to haunt them. But who was Grimhilde? Phillip wanted to know. The King and the Queen with great sadness told him of the Kingdom’s dark past that his Mothjer and Father had kept from him, a past that they had helped the whole Kingdom to forget, Grimhilde was Snow White’s Stepmother, the Evil Queen who once ruled the land and tried to kill his mother, which is why the Dwarves were their Guardians now. “But why did you keep this a secret, why did you encourage people to forget?” Phillip asked. “They were very dark times in the history of our Kingdom, with most townspeople living in poverty and hunger. We wanted to rebuild the kingdom on happiness, prosperity and peace. She held such power and control that people couldn’t believe they were truly free. We thought it best that the dark times were put behind us, out of sight, forgotten” Snow explained, “We were foolish.” “But what harm can she do? An old witch with some magic tricks I have dealt with witches before, surely she is no real threat?” Phillip said with confidence. “Do not under estimate her powers my Son; she is a skilled and powerful sorceress, more than your average witch, she was once Yensid’s former apprentice” Florian explained. “It is true and her threat should not be taken lightly. And what is more distressing is that the diamond has been stolen by a Pirate Captain, who I believe to be in league with this Hag, en route to Arendelle where I was sending it for safe keeping in the ice vaults. All is not lost for the diamond was in an unbreakable chest protected by a spell that can only unlock with the counter spell that is attached to the key. He has the chest but no key, the key however is also missing” the Sorcerer recounted. “But what are we to do” fretted Snow White “if Grimhilde has the chest with the diamond and the key is missing?” “There are those already trying to reclaim the chest, the Prince of the Maritime Kingdom, whose ship was attacked by the Pirate Captain who stole the chest, is on his way as we speak to Agrabah to seek help from someone he assures can be of great service” informed Yensid, “but help is needed, I fear that Grimhilde is already spreading her evil across the lands, forming allies with the forces of darkness.” “It will be an honour to help” declared Phillip rising from his seat. “If an evil is threatening my family, my Kingdom, I will seek to find it and stop it. I swear by my sword.” And so it was decided, the Dwarves would stay to protect and defend the King and Queen should Grimhilde appear and Phillip left with Yensid on horseback to venture into the forest to seek others who could help them in their quest and hunt for signs of the Hag’s lair. As they travelled deeper into the forest, they met a messenger riding toward them, he was in great distress. “Please, please help, I am from the Kingdom of Perrault, three days ride from here. The Kingdom is cursed, such misfortune has befallen us” pleaded the messenger “Our Princess has been cursed by a hideous witch and sleeps an ageless sleep from which she cannot be awakened. We have tried everything but so far nothing has been able to break the curse.” “This sounds like the work of Grimhilde” the Sorcerer said gravely, Phillip nodded in agreement. “But why would she curse a Princess she doesn’t know?” Asked Phillip “One can only assume she had some dark purpose to full fill” Yensid pondered “There is only one way to find out, lead on good sir, we shall help you if we can” the Prince declared With much gratitude the messenger led the Prince and the Sorcerer through the forest. “Perhaps I should have mentioned this earlier” said the messenger cautiously “…we also have the problem of a dragon!” Recipe: Prince Barin from Flash Gordan repaint, with re-sculpted chin, sanded down mustache and forehead wrinkles, and sculpted extra hair. Cloak and hat and sword belt: PotC Will Turner. Sword: Gandelf Ok so this story literally took ages for me to work out. Not my best I don't think, but I couldn't face spending more time on it. ![]() |
