So, since I am a big fan of both Geoff Johns and Jeff Lemire's runs on Superboy Pre New 52, I decided I should start by rounding out some of Conner's supporting cast. First up, we have Simon Valentine, who was set up to be the Lex Luthor of the book...Superboy's greatest friend...and his greatest enemy...a variation on Lex Luthor's Silver Age status.
So, to do this figure, I took a Diamond select Toys Angel Season 5 Spike and removed the head. Next, I repainted the pants with Testors Model Masters Green Zinc Chromate, the boots and belt with Testors Model Masters Sloth Brown, the shirt with Testors Model Masters Flat White, and the arms and neck with Testors Acryl Peach. When the paint dried, I gave the pants, belt, boots, arms, and neck two generous coats of flat clear. Once the flat clear had finally dried, I took a Moore Action Collectibles Buffy the Vampire Slayer Dingoes Ate My Baby Oz figure, and using the boil and pop method, I removed the head. Next, I used my Dremel to sand down the ball joint attached to the Spike figure's neck into a cylindrical post. Once the cylindrical post was formed, I next used my Dremel to partially hollow out the Oz head and create a small hole in the center of the head cavity. Next, I test fit the head onto the neck, and satisfied with how the head and neck fit together, I set them aside and started repainting them. Next, I gave the skin of the head a coat of Testors Acryl Peach. Once the paint on the skin had dried, I gave the hair and eyebrows a coat of Testors Model Masters Pumpkin Orange. When the paint on the hair had dried fully, I gave the head two generous coats of Flat Clear. When the Flat Clear had finally dried, I glued the head in place atop the neck post. Next, I took the jacket from a Terminator Salvation Marcus figure and repainted it with Testors Model Masters Green Zinc Chromate and Testors Model Masters Sloth Brown (for the buttons). Once the paint on the jacket had dried, I gave the jacket two generous coats of Flat Clear. Once the Flat Clear had fully dried, I put the jacket on the figure, and TA-DA...Superboy's greatest friend and greatest enemy, Simon Valentine!!!
Please let me know what you guys think of him, and as always, comments are appreciated.
