I have recently started on a new custom figure of a very famous Dr Who adversaries 'The Trods' that appeared in the 1960s TV Comic, though not on TV.

The custom is in it's very early stages of development, as you can see by the first photo, his head is only sampled for size at this time.

This is a custom representation of the Trod Leader 'Super Trod' , he still needs lots of work on his collar (may need to alter the piping at the shoulder), claw arms and his tracks before he is completely finished. He need lots of work on painting and shading him until I am completely happy. The eyes, mouth and the yellow and black main body colour is only a rough sample attempt. Making him with yellow colouring defines his special 'title' and rank as 'Super Trod'. Lower ranked Trods are all black on the main body and do not have the yellow colouring. His head is only at the scaling stage and the eyes and mouth are currently experimental...

This 1960s enemy of the first and second Doctor was created by 'TV Comic', as they couldn't get the 'rights' to use the Daleks at this time. It took the comic a few years to eventually get these rights. Although, once gained, the Daleks invaded the Trods home world 'Trodos' and battled with this robotic foe.

The very first encounter was in TV Comic adventure 'The Trodos Tyranny', whereby, MacTaggart was one of the human colonists of Trodos. Envious of others and longing for power, he constructed the Trods to achieve his goals, but they eventually turned against him and shot him. After the First Doctor deactivated the Trods in 2066, he discovered the fatally injured MacTaggart, who told him his story, then died. However, the Trods survived and returned to several adventures and were led by Super Trod.

Like the 'original cloth-faced' Cybermen these two adversaries went into the comic's foray into regular enemies that appeared and reappeared in the comic over several years. Although, the 'Troughton' Doctor had already met the later 'Moonbase and Tomb' style Cybermen on TV, his comic counterparts of the first and second Doctor only ever met the Tenth Planet's cloth-faced versions
