I was thrilled to receive a complete collection of ReAction Universal Monsters this past Christmas. If this were a real 80's figure line though, there would be a Monster playset too (and probably at least two vehicles with exclusive figures). The carrying case one Remco put out for their vintage figures is neat but a bit too flimsy for me, so I decided to take the initiative and make my own.

It's about 70-80% done now, but finished enough to show to people. Once I had made up my mind about the project, I started checking thrift stores for dollhouses that were to the proper scale, had a nice layout and potential for spookiness. A pink one made by Blue Box toys was the best fit, unfortunately the doors and one of the upper floors were missing.

I masked the windows, spraypainted it gray, then started weathering it with my airbrush. It's humid where I live and old houses get a green slime growing on them, so I tried to replicate that moldy feeling here.

Inside, I painted the lower floor a beige color and left the upper one alone. The rug was molded into the floor and since I was stuck with it I decided to dress it up. The middle part was cut to fit from a piece of scrapbook paper- I made a rubbing with a pencil, cut out the shape and used it as a pattern.

The curtains were molded into the front of the windows and I couldn't get around them either. The inner originals were stickers, I also used scrapbook paper here. This part was not very much fun, lots of measuring and scissor work.

The left and right wings are works in progress. I plan to make a Frankenstein lab in the left side with operating table, and a Mummy's room/dungeon on the other side. I'm using a piece of MDF for the floor right now, I plan to cut a trapdoor in it that will drop into a cell on the lower level. Looking for parts for that...
