This is a project that has been on my desk for a while. I've broken a couple along the way but I've finally done it! This sonic does away with the buttons and switches that make this look like a $10 play thing and takes the whole piece up a notch. Using a 11th/12th Doctor sonic we've done away with the spring mechanism replacing it with magnetized retractors, reworked the entire control console to operate all lights and sounds from the leather collar via "hidden activators" then accented with a 6mm tactile switch (mainly for looks). The collar has been rubberized with a combination of materials to give a sturdy feel yet flexible enough to operate the existing buttons underneath in closed and extended positions. Finishing off the look we have created a marbleized appearance with a combination of paints and finish to give it that extra authentic look as well as using a black wash to give the entire piece a bit of grit and "Well-Traveled" appearance. I give you the Ultimate Mark VII Sonic Screwdriver. ![]() |
