I bought a bunch of figures from an online auction and a Nickelodeon Ooze Tossin' Raphael was included. I kinda collect Raphael figures so I was happy with that. But then I got the figure in hand. My god, what a terrible toy. Almost no paint apps and almost no articulation. Poorly choosen color scheme and a flimsy play feature. But the sculpt is great, and as many have pointed out, very Ghostbuster-y. So I deceided to make Raph a Ghostbuster.
First I re-painted the figure. The belt was a bit tricky since it is made out of that soft, rubbery plastic that tends to get sticky when painted. So I glued the belt in place with superglue and then broke out the woodglue to properly seal it. For the Proton Pack I got a vintage Kenner Proton Pack that I upgraded a bit with various bits & pieces and added a handle from a Wacky Action Leonardo weapon to let Raphael hold it. Also replaced the vintage yellow rope with a black one. I thought a sigarette would finish the tired, hard-workin bad a$$ look, so gave him one. Think he turned out great!
...I'm definitly with you, this nickhasbrofigures sucks so hard.same opinion for the whole style of this animated stuff, including the current cinemamovie-style...seems like we will never see the good old versions of nearly every cool character again however, perfect crossover-idea for this base and good execution
What an awesome crossover idea TMNT and Ghostbusters! I hope you plan on completing the team, would love to see more of them. Great sculpting and paints!
