I'm a pretty big Cap fan and tend to buy most of his figures whether I really want to or not... lol. Hasbro has their new Onslaught wave figure coming, but I wanted to make my own version using the same TBML Series 1 Cap head sculpt (BEST Cap head. Ever.). Reworked the Grim Reaper base to allow for less rub in its very tight shoulder sockets, and painted it up. Still need to add a gloss coat over him (used Vallejos medium blue, and like always, their paint keeps rubbing off! Anyone else have this issue with their stuff?). Moving on to yet again another new Classic Cap display default, but man, this GR body is perfect for him. Planning on using this base for a lot of characters, but be warned: they used some super strong glue in the upper torso, and it's pretty tricky cracking him open without stressing the plastic out!

I oughta try this. Be a good excuse to buy the Cap Wolf figure. Get rid of paint rub. But hot DAYUM is that neck long

Love it! You are 100% correct that the series one Cap headsculpt is the best ever.

Yeah, I use VHT Vinyl Dye on joints, it never rubs off since it's dye. While it isn't cost effective to spend $10 a can for every color I need, at the very least I can spray something black/white/grey to hide original colors, especially if the parts are neon green or something.

It never ceases to amaze me how figures when they first come out seem perfect, THE figure that defines that character. And since participating and following on FigureRealm that idea is smashed to pieces on a regular basis. Your Cap is no exception, awesome custom.

All acrylics are crappy when it comes to durability, some chemists out there would make a fortune making paint with acrylic's ease of use and Laquer/Enamel durability.

Testors acrylic is decent, but you still need to do prep work on joints, and at that point any acrylic would work with a coat of sealer. I use P3 because its the cheapest and brushes on smoothly.

Also, I think they sonically weld figures now, maybe a little glue on the pegs inside. Theyre tough to crack open and just leave ugly weld lines.

I agree, I primarily use Testors MM acryls, and they tend to be the most durable of the acrylics out there. Their big downside is the crappy paint jar they come in and a somewhat limited color range, which is why I occasionally use other brands. I like P3's flesh tone range, and I think they're durability is pretty good too. Vallejos, Tamiya, and Citadel don't adhere well at all, but damn their color offerings are enticing.I've started to heavily use Dupli-color vinyl and fabric spray on my customs, and for joints, after shaving them down a bit, I've been experimenting using colored vinyl (electrical) tape instead of paint so that there's nothing to rub off. Seems to have a lot of potential, but requires completely cutting open parts and pulling out the joints, which a lot of people probably aren't into doing (I do it on almost every custom as part of my disassembly/prep process). Thanks for the comment btw! =)

Great custom. Good use of parts. As far as the Vallejo paints go, I've only ever used the gold and it had terrible coverage. Found it to be very watery.
