Not quite what I originally had planned when I decided to embark upon a month of Street Fighter figures, but here we are. The figures I had originally planned fell through, and while I was looking through images, I realized I had pretty much everything I needed to try this guy. Zangief comes based on his design in....all the games. Dude never changes. Dhalsim was announced for Street Fighter V and he looks aged and has a beard. Zangief looks the exact same. We can't even add some grey to his hair? Not even a little? Interpreted by most people, and the live action movie, as a villain, Zangief is actually more of a heroic character, traveling the world and fighting for his country. I also believe that being a wrestler he was the first true grappler in a fighting game. For fixing him up, I started with Thanos, but swapped out the arms for Skaar. The two wristbands came from World War Hulk figures, I believe. Belt was from a Hercules harness. Two of them actually. Had to cut proper pieces and glue them in place, adding a little sculpt to fill in the gaps. Sculpted up the hair on his chest, and the laces on his boots, then did a full repaint, using a different skin tone for the scars. Still doesn't show up exceptionally well in the pictures. Then, the head. Started with Thanos, and pretty much reworked the whole thing. Added ears from a First Appearance Hulk, then sculpted up the Mohawk and beard. Not entirely happy with how the beard itself came out, but overall I like the figure in the end.
