In anticipation of the Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice movie, I couldn't wait for the release of an Aquaman figure so I made one of my own to complete my movie Justice League set. I took the base of Khal Drogo of course, since it is Jason Momoa in 6 inch scale. I cut off his long goatee braid, and his multiple pony tails, but made sure to glue the tip back on to create a short tail. I repainted it using a dry brush technique to create blonde highlights.
I removed the corset and skirt piece entirely. I used a sword strap from a LOTR figure for his shoulder strap and belt. I repainted the silver detailing with gold and black wash. I took the belt from Faora (Man of Steel) and glued it on, repainting only the "A" shape gold. I dry brushed the gauntlets gold using dry brush. I gave him the Trident from DCU Aquaman, with a few details painted on. I painted his pants dark green. I used the shoulder pad from Young Justice Sports Master and painted it gold and black wash. I hand-painted the detail of the tattooed scales on his arms and some on his body.
I hope the official figure looks decent so I can replace my custom with the real Aquaman figure to display.
I dig everything on this except those bell bottom pants (just my personal preference) however if that's the only thing my silly butt doesn't like then you know you're doing a good job customizing haha! Very very nice I love all the added tattoo's and the extra attention to detail on his trident!
Thanks! Yeah I was trying to find proper legs that would fit but none of the ones I wanted to use had the proper sized or positioned peg/peg holes. I may change it out when I find some more fodder. I appreciate the honesty.
