One could argue that Blok's relationship with the Legion of Super-heroes got off to a bit of a rocky start when he, alongside his fellow League of Super-Assassins set out to destroy the Legion whom they thought were trying to destroy Blok's homeworld, the planet Dryad. Of course, I suppose if you're trying to protect your homeworld from an invading force it's probably best not to use 'Assasins' in your team name lest someone get the wrong idea. Anyway, eventually Blok discovered the Legion members present were trying to save his planet, and he turned on his teammates. Blok went on to become a, ahem, cornerstone of the Legion until his death at the hands of Roxxas.

Since I have a goal of making 30 Legion members/villains by next February I figured it would help to get one of the more difficult figures out of the way early so a lot of the less complexed costume designs could be saved from the home stretch. At least that was my thinking. So Blok here was made by using a DC Lead figure from the Matty Subscription line. One of the major obstacles was once his tunic was removed there was a quarter inch gap between the upper- and lower-torso connected by a plastic washer/spacer thing. To fill in this gap I used a mixture of moldable plastic as a base, then sculpted Blok's singlet atop that. But he's made entirely from Lead including a complete resculpting of his head. One of the neat things about Blok was that when something was broken off him in battle like his stone collar it didn't suddenly reappear the next issue so that when his nose was broken off his face took on even less of a humanistic look, so his appearance was always changing. Everything else is sculpt from his wristbands to his boots. Except for his shoulder pads which are foam. Due to shape and weight foam just seemed like a more logical choice to get a proper smooth curve.

So that would be my third Legion member done since I started my Year of the Legion project, and hopefully, with Blok out of the way I can keep the pace up and easily get the 30 or so figures I designated for this project done by next February. Of course, like Blok, nothing is ever set in stone--because he's a silicon based lifeform, silly!
