Back in summer last year, a Chinese seller was selling a load of prototype bodies, with no paint or heads. I managed to snag a Kaine Scarlet Spider in oddly a more crimson red than the slight bright blood red of the actual release. I had planned on using it for a Human Torch, and now came the time to cash in on the idea. No paint rub! All I did was dry-brush in some parts red-orange, and then some yellow as the highlights. To simulate the glowing flames radiating from his body! I cut off the flames from the Toybiz series 2 Torch, dremelled them out to make them concave and glued them on. There were gaps made because of this, so I sculpted more flames to contour the sides on every one of them. I repainted them yellow and dry-brushed orange on top, as the heat radiates outward. I gave him two sets of hands, both from Ben Reilly Spidey - wall-crawling hands for throwing flames or flying, and plain fists. The flames on his back were from the Ultimate Green Goblin, cut up in strategic parts and glued together to make a "backpack" sort of thing like Hasbro do on many of those types of things. The heads are from the Toybiz Series 2 Torch, and unmasked one from the boxset version. Finally, I took my trusty Write-All pen and drew on the black lines, just like he had up until the 90s. The beauty of this custom is that I can make a blank head with no facial features, paint him in the same way and then I'd have Jim Hammond version! Thanks for looking, got a couple more to show in the next 2 days! ![]() |
