When I saw Blast-Attak I saw a Metalhead body from TMNT. I never liked Blast-Attak but always wanted a Metalhead. And so it began...I bought the playmates Metalhead online, performed plastic surgery cracking the shell open and disconnecting the dome piece. Used tape to cover the clear transparent brain that when you put in light makes the eyes light up (love this feature on old toys like terminator)... Thought the body had the perfect beautiful paint job and didn't think my sculpt would bring much better out then was already done, so I went with it. Repainted the head with a custom mix of citadel paints, with metallic medium added. Repainted the little grenades and details on his belt along with the T.
There are about 10 different colors used even though it looks simple. I am really happy with how he came out. So if you want a motu sized Metalhead, this is my simple recipe!
Thanks NSP. That's what I was going for, just saw this instantly when I saw the base figure, and had the head off of him for months knowing I would turn him into this.
It does look like a diving suit for Donnie. I think this base figure has potential for other tmnt characters. I may go back and put a shell on this guy. Thanks for that idea, really Gold paint it out...and I now think I will make a Chrome Dome from this base figure. What do you think?!
Ol' Metalhead's been a popular character lately. And this version is pretty interesting. He has very heroic proportions and I see him looking pretty cool next to the 6" classic movie turtles. Good job. The head articulation helps this guy emote quite nicely, and the photo captions are a nice touch as well.
I'm wondering if the hands from the original Metalhead figure might make him look more robot/turtle-like. This guy's size might also make him a good candidate for the shell from the Nickelodeon Metalhead.
SirJordy33 and Myself have both made Metalhead figures just recently as well, you might check 'em out for more robot-turtle goodness. SJ33's original version has just made "most talked about" status.
I have to agree some turtle hands and a shell would really put this figure over the top! Also, is it just me or does this base also look like it could be a diving suit for Donnie? lol
