When I saw the theme for this contest I couldn't not participate, for how important the genesis was in my early childhood I felt morally obligated to support it with a custom of one of its most iconic yet unappreciated characters, Ristar! Funny thing, in 1995 when the game first came out I only had the Game Gear version, I didn't get the proper genesis cart until I found one at Comic Con a couple years ago. Since it came out so late in the Genesis' life cycle stores just didn't have it long enough for me to get one. Ristar is a character who shouldn't need much introduction despite being in only one game...wait does the game gear port count as another game? There are minor differences but they're mostly the same...that's besides the point. Ristar is made out of a broken Jazwares 3 inch Shadow figure I had lying in a box. I cut the torso in half down the middle, embedded the halves in a ball of clay along with the hips, cured that, put on a veneer of apoxie sculpt for durability, then built his star face on top of all that. The shoes are actually Sonic's, they match the shape better than Shadow's but I did sculpt over them to put in the lightning bolt pattern. Poor Ristar is a character who never got to join the great pantheon of franchised mascot characters, but thanks to digital re-releases and cameos in games like Sega All Stars Racing Transformed it's nice to see he still is not forgotten.
well I'm not just going to sell this one, especially here in the comments section where all of our personal information would be plainly visible. Please contact me through a personal message so we can discuss this in private.
