When I was a kid, one of my favorite figures was Luke in Coruscant Guard armor from the Shadow of the Empire toy line. The distinct red armor was a nice change from the Stormtrooper white armor and I used to wonder why didn't they had any Stormtroopers in red armor back then.

Of course nowadays, we have quite a few trooper variants in red armor but I never did like the pattern scheme that Hasbro used especially for the shock troopers in ROTS.

So I decided to repaint my own crimson stormtrooper using the Han Solo in Stormie armor from the Unleashed series as the base. Hence the DeathWolf Legion Assault Stormtrooper was created. The idea behind it was that in addition to providing security and patrolling the streets of Coruscant. The troopers would also be rotated to active front line duty in order to insure that they did not lose their edge. Those on the front line would wear the standard stormtrooper armor albeit in the crimson color.

Now for the recipe, the figure was first base coated with Games Workshop Chaos Black Spray and then Mephiston Red. The detailing was then done using a mixture of Citadel and Formula P3 paints and all emblems except the Spartan helmet were hand painted. The Spartan emblem was done using a stencil to trace the outlining.

A coat of clear gloss and then flat varnish was applied to protect the paint from chipping and to give it a semi satin finishing.
