First of all: please excuse my flawed english ! It's not my first language. There was sooo much confusion and seesaw changing about Azog and this character even still during filming The Hobbit -movie. After the very first design of Azog, was turned down and became "Yazneg" instead, this was the next design for Azok, which was turned down too and had been considered to be the design for Azog's son Bolg instead. This had been turned down too and replaced by CGI-Designs for both. So it appears in the extended version of Battle of the five armies only for a few seconds as a nameless orc in dol guldur. It could have been an even more evil-looking villain, than Lurtz of Lord of the rings and it was a hudge mistake, to replace it by CGI-designs, in my opinion. As a passionated collector of the LOTR-Toybiz-figures and the 7"-Hobbit-figures by the bridge direct, I was thrilled about their announcement, that they will release a 7" version of that figure. ...but that never happend and was canceled ultimately, to my disappointment. That's why, I decided to try to create it myself. So, this is actually my very first custom figure ever. I had zero clue about customizing, no tools, and no idea that there is something called apoxie sculp (for example), for a long time. So it took me a lot of time, to find all the materials and parts. I guess, it is a really really complex figure, because of it's many details and the extremely 3dimensional weapon. Not the best choice for the first step into customizing (for sure !), but I'm really pleased with the result ! The base figure is a Jakks WWE Billy Gunn- figure; new born lurtz-head; streched to reach a size of 7.5"; added hands of another WWE-figure hair and beard of an Eomer-figure; chain bib of Sauron-figure; bloody ribs underneath are painted, cut in half matches; bones, ribs, spine of a safari-toy-series; shoulder-/shin-armour of a plastic-can, claws of a Dr.Who werewolf-figure; metal-applications on head/face made of leather, straps and coat-tail and front-parts of the coat; armour-plates made of plastic-coffee-cups; fur of a monchichi-figure, ellbow-armour made from scratch of apoxy-sculpt; fur-boots, briefs, ear and the lower end of the spine are made of apoxy sculpt too, forearm armour is made of aluminium. Sword and dagger I carved out of polypropylene. The hudge mace is made from scratch. I used different plastic parts and carved the three "spatulated axes" out of some kind of foam. Of course, the maze was a big challange for me, but since I had no experience in painting, the coloring was too. A original picture of this guy on the film-set showed, that most of his armour seems to be made of copper and not iron, so I had to find a way to reproduce this look, by using a copper-colour as base, and add rust-and brown-tones. Maybe I'll add some turquoise spots later, to make it look like corroded copper.? ...I must say, that the painting looks better in reality, than shown on the pictures. Bummer ! I used Rewell colours, but I think they are not the best choice. I think they are a little bit too thick. I hope, all you customising-pros and skilled guys like it a bit, at least. Let me know what you think ! I totally admire the work of all you guys ! Best regards from Germany ! CHEERS ! ![]() |

Yeah, that guy tumbled down the job-ladder even faster, than Grima worm-tongue did, haha !
...and was shattered by a WOMAN ! Orc-mobbing at it's worst !
