With this custom I submit Bulrog, aka "The Bull", a demon slayer from the novel Sins of Laria, book 4 of the Laria Saga. As a background, he is one of six demon slayers in the story that hunt and kill demons that have run rampant. Unfortunately, Bulrog simply enjoys the sport of killing and uses the cover of killing demons as an excuse to delight in his fiendish obsession. Slaughtering for the sake of murder alone, Bulrog is truly a menace that rivals the very demons he destroys. He is of a four-armed desert race known as the Cagnonians. They are a very tenacious people who pride themselves on physical strength. In the novel, Bulrog commits some of the most heinous acts and I wanted this figure to display just how much of a threat he is. Make no mistake, he doesn't need an ax to kill. He prefers tearing the limbs off of his victims with his bare hands alone. This was actually the fourth demon slayer character I created and he took some time to complete. To begin, I used a hulk that came in a Target three pack with Ultron and Vision. Next, I took an Absorbing Man build a figure head and painted him to match the described skin tone. I decided to gouge out the eye to match a very stunning battle scene in which one of the heroes succeeds in maiming him before they are killed. The lower set of arms also come from the Absorbing Man building a figure. They worked remarkably well despite being different from typical flesh. The stone arm displays scarring that would be expected on the character and I placed blood on the wooden arm clutching the ax to show the guts of one of his victims. The necklace is from Brother Voodoo's belt; I used a wire and black vinyl tape to complete it. The belt came from Thanos, the red capes are from old 90's Superman figures and the tails are from unknown fodder. This was the first time I really went in and worked the joints to prevent paint rub. All of the flesh had to be repainted and I used a screw and small neodymium magnet for the neck and head to give me a better range of motion. No where near perfect, but I am very satisfied with this guy and believe he does the character justice from the novel. Thank you for viewing! Please wait... |
