So over a year ago I started work on this got frustrated with spray paint going all sticky and university taking up all my time but FINALLY Thranduil in his BOTFA armour is finished. I took a Legolas body from TTT and the head of a Fellowship one the same as my other Thranduil figure, the lower arms have been changed to Haldir at Helms deep hands as they work better than jsut Legolas's arms and Faramir's hands. The swords are made from Legolas daggers with the pummel of Anduril swords at the base. To elongate the blade I just sanded down the white knives Legolas has then stuck plastic either side and sharpened into blades and painted. The hair is taken from a Prince Nuada figure which works PERFECTLY and sculpted in miliput any gaps as well as those infamouse Lee Pace eyebrows. The crown is just plastic wound around as it is in the film with a blue shard as the centre piece jewel on the crown. NOW the cuirass, Pauldrons and armoured boots were all sculpted by me for hours delicately making the leaf patterns etc but I mixed in some bits on the pauldrons from the Haldir. The cloak is essentially: silver material on one side and velvet red on the other with a grey liner between. I attached it under the pauldrons and then cut out the feather shaped leaves under the pauldrons on the cape from more material and glued on. The kama/ dress/ w.e you want to call it under robe etc was the same material, but both the cloak and that I went over with black paint mixed iwth water to make darker as it is in the film as well as over the armout once it was paitned silver for that age effect. THis was a really long project and I still have other BOTFA figures to make, hope you like and comment! ![]() |
